Şirince Village

A short drive into the hills above Selçuk brings you to Şirince, a photogenic old village famous for its fruit wines, stone houses and slow, sunny afternoons.

A hillside village

Once a Greek village called Çirkince and resettled after the 1923 population exchange, Şirince is a cluster of white-and-timber 19th-century houses spilling down vineyard slopes. Its lanes are lined with stalls selling mulberry, pomegranate and peach wines, olive oil, dried fruit and handicrafts.

What to do

Taste the local fruit wines, browse the market, photograph the old Greek church, and settle in for a long village lunch. It's an easy, relaxed half-day and a favourite add-on to Ephesus tours.
